Liquid Nitrogen Cyro Storage Facility

Killby & Gayford were contracted to carry out the conversion of the disused basement area into a new cryo-store. The new facility delivers liquid nitrogen via a super insulated vacuum line from an external 11,000 litre tank. Particular attention was paid to the installation of low and high level extract services due to the massive expansion properties of liquid nitrogen when exposed to the atmosphere.

To enhance operator safety, oxygen depletion alarms and CCTV cameras, linked back to a central security desk were also installed. The Works were undertaken on a design and build basis.
